The only bad thing is it seems brutally wasteful. Like why not cut the tree and sell firewood or wood to a logging yard. I dunno might not be worth it I don’t know the dollars and cents of those operations, but still. Wasteful.

I see where you’re coming from. Maybe this is more cost effective sometimes. Dunno.

Developers use it as do ROW managers. It is a very cost effective way to quickly clear areas. that have excessive growth. When done, you switch to a bucket and remove stumps in the case of developers.

It’s gotta be cost effective I’ll sure as hell give you that, nothing else can completely
eliminate
a tree that quickly

Me too. Here’s another.

I watched one in operation a few years ago. It is impressive to say the least.

I showed the first one to my coworkers. We spent way too much time on YouTube checking out forestry mulchers.

That one is waaay different and just as mesmerizing! I didn’t know these kind of machines existed before today. They’re beasts!

We had one of those in to help clear a farm my parents bought about a year ago. It was badass. I’ll see if I can find the video I took of it and will upload it if I do.

that’s one way to get rid of trees.

Wasteful? It’s called “mulching” and mulching is gold.

This is a slightly specialized version, but it’s at the end a flail mower. They cut grass, wood, trees, stumps, ground, rocks (though that tends to require a higher probability of hammer replacement). Kinda cool in that the knives swing from the spinning core, then snap back if they are driven into something too tough (though they transferred their energy into it already.) By the time they come around again, centrifugal force makes them swing out and they are ready for another swipe.
A beast machine for sure. This one has a hydraulic motor and those things are a special sort of beast all by themselves.
